RE: Recent Downtime (11/2017)
GGRadio has been suffering from a lot of downtime recently for many reasons, we have had many listeners message us to let us know and we believe it would be best to respond in an announcement.
30/10:
Our host notified us that they had suffered a failure in the RAID array that our radio server was on, causing all servers to be permanently lost.
We decided to move away from the host as they hadn't proved reliable enough in the past.
As soon as possible, we had the radio server up and running again with no problems on a host that has proven reliable in the past.
3/11:
We had been working on a new AutoDJ system, and decided to deploy it at the same time as the new AutoDJ.
We quickly noticed that the software on the radio server was crashing after several hours, causing the stream to go offline, sadly this is not easy to fix and requires testing fixes in production and seeing if the server crashes.
10/11:
Our development team began working on a fix for the discord bot.
12/11:
The host of our AutoDJ server (separate to the new radio server) unexpectedly shut all servers down with no notice/warning.
Later, the host notified us that due to lack of funds they would be unable to continue and it is not known whether the servers will come online again to retrieve data from.
A stable bot update was also released that operates to notify users of current problems in the 'Playing' tag.
14/11:
We were unable to work on this issue as planned, however are hoping to have it up tomorrow.
Once everything is back to normal, we will post an announcement here and share it on our twitter, discord (server and bot) and anywhere else we can be reached.
My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this may be causing to you or your community, I hope you stay with us through this as we will be returning stronger than ever and have lots lined up for 2018.
